E-commerce Fuels Growth in Kenya’s Domestic Courier Deliveries

Kenya’s parcel volumes are gaining momentum. By the end of June 2025 domestic courier deliveries registered a noticeable uptick as more Kenyan consumers turned to online purchasing, and logistics firms scrambled to match demand. This represented a 9% quarter-over-quarter increase in the Q2 2025 report by the Communications Authority of Kenya. According to one report, private courier operators posted revenues of KSh 6.28 billion in 2024, and employment in the sector rose from 6,387 to 6,736 by mid-2025. [ Source ]

For Kenya’s 3PL and warehouse sector, the implication is clear: faster pace, tighter time-windows and higher expectations of fulfilment must be built into service offers now.

Massive Licence Fee Uplift for Kenya’s Postal & Courier Sector

A major regulatory reform proposal was unveiled during September 2025. The Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) announced that licence fees for postal and courier operators could rise from KSh 50,000 to as much as KSh 1.5 million, and new licence categories will be introduced (such as for courier-hailing services). This regulatory shake-up signals that Kenya’s logistics market is evolving — scale, compliance and technology will increasingly matter. For providers and clients alike, preparing to align with higher regulatory and capital requirements is becoming part of the logistics game-plan.

The gathering is significant for Kenya’s logistics ecosystem: it presents an opportunity for visibility, partnerships, and positioning the country as a logistics hub in East Africa.
